An American in Paris: Barbara Crawford on Cy Twombly's Ceiling Painting in the Louvre
Barbara Crawford, Professor of Art at Southern Virginia University, Buena Vista, VA, made history by assisting the famous American painter Cy Twombly (1928-2011) execute a painting for a ceiling in the Louvre Museum —the first American artist to receive such an honor. Crawford traveled to Paris to supervise the project, mix colors, and paint part of the ceiling. The painting was unveiled in March 2010.

Gardening Practices of Central VA's Enslaved African Americans
In recognition of the rich culinary and gardening traditions of the African American community, and in anticipation of the establishment of a replica slave garden on Monroe Street, the Legacy Museum of African American History is pleased to welcome community scholar and writer, Michael Twitty to deliver a talk on Gardening Practices of Central Virginia? Enslaved African Americans.
Michael Twitty is a recognized authority of Afro-American and African food culture, traditional lifeways and regional history. As the curator for the African-American Heritage Collection at the Landreth Seed Company, his specialization has been on the historic garden practices and culinary traditions of African-Americans.

Peter Pan - LU Tower Theater
The exciting story follows the journey of the 3 Darling family children, Wendy, Michael and John. Wendy enjoys telling her younger siblings stories about the mythical Peter Pan, the little boy who never grew up. One night, much to everyone's surprise, Peter flies into the Darling nursery, in search of his shadow, which Wendy had previously captured. Sprinkling the kids with magic pixie dust, Peter flies off to Never-Never Land, with Wendy, Michael and John following behind. Once in Peter's domain, the children are terrorized by Captain Hook, who intends to capture Peter and do away with him. After rescuing Indian princess Tiger Lily from Captain Hook, Peter must save the children, not to mention his own "Lost Boys," from the diabolical pirate captain. In addition, he must contend with the jealousy of tiny sprite Tinker Bell, who doesn't like Wendy one little bit.
